Visions from 2006

Idiocracy

Mike Judge, 2006

In 2005, average in every way private Joe Bowers is selected to take part in a secret military experiment to put him in hibernation for a year along with a woman named Rita. The slumbering duo is forgotten when the base they are stored on is closed down and are left in stasis until 2505. When they finally wake up, they discover the average intelligence of humans has decreased so much that Joe is now the smartest man in the world.

Dreams, Nightmares & Dumb Futures: Visions from 2006

Step back into 2006 with three visionary films that captured the anxieties, fantasies, and imagination of a changing world. From the absurdly prophetic satire of Idiocracy to the dreamlike psychological odyssey of Paprika and the haunting fairy tale of Pan's Labyrinth, these films blur the line between escapism and warning, inviting us into worlds that feel stranger — and more familiar — with every passing year.
