Jackie van Beek
Damon Herriman
Jemaine Clement
Jackie van Beek first appeared on the Mobile Kino screens with the adorable EAGLE VS SHARK and we are excited to bring her latest work to the Lakeside program. NUDE TUESDAY sees Jackie van Beek welcoming Jemaine Clement and Damon Herriman to share the screen for this absolutely absurd concept. The idea is all gibberish. Quiet literally. All dialogue in this film is a fictional language played with English subtitles. The new idea works extremely well with the films running theme of miscommunication.
NUDE TUESDAY
A suburban couple goes to a new-age retreat as a last ditch attempt to save their marriage. Their path to reconnection is riddled with hilarity and humiliation as they seek to find themselves and each other.

EVERYBODY STREET was screened in the Urban Spree gallery together with a photo exhibition from Martha Cooper. The director returns to the Mobile Kino screens with her new documentary on the late artist Dash Snow.
MOMENTS LIKE THIS NEVER LAST
The latest film from Cherly Dunn is a filmic exploration of the life and legacy of the late artist Dash Snow. Born Dashiell Alexander Whitney Snow, Dash Snow rejected a life of privilege to make his own way as an artist on the streets of downtown New York City in the late 1990s.
Mandibles (English Subtitles)
Director: Quentin Dupieux
It wouldn’t be Lakeside without a stoner comedy. This year things get weird with Quentin Dupieux.
MANDIBLES
Two hapless losers discover a giant fly in the trunk of a stolen car and decide to domesticate it in a bizarre get-rich-quick scheme.
When simple-minded friends Jean-Gab and Manu find a giant fly trapped in the boot of a car, they decide to train it in the hope of making a ton of cash.
Speak No Evil (English Subtitles)
Director: Christian Tafdrup
There is no better time to watch a horror film then when you are in the remote woods miles from civilization. Lakeside Film Festival loves to highlight the horror films from relatively unknown filmmakers. This year we welcome director Christian Tafdrup with the Danish horror.
SPEAK NO EVIL
On a vacation in Tuscany, a Danish family instantly becomes friends with a Dutch family. Months later the Danish couple receive an unexpected invitation to visit the Dutch in their wooden house and decide to go for the weekend. However, it doesn't take long before the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings. Things gradually get out of hand, as the Dutch turn out to be something very else than what they have pretended to be. The small Danish family now find themselves trapped in a house, that they wish they had never entered.
Flee (Engish Subtitles)
Director: Jonas Poher Rasmussen
Selected to be included in the Lakeside Animation program is the new documentary telling the story of an extraordinary journey from Afghanistan.
FLEE
Flee tells the story of Amin Nawabi as he grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan.
We Might As Well Be Dead (Engish Subtitles)
Director: Natalia Sinelnikova
One of the local films included in the Lakeside program is the comedy drama from Natalia Sinelnikova. The filmmaker emigrated from St. Petersburg to Germany in 1996 as a Jewish quota refugee. She grew up in Berlin and studied at Babelsberg Film University in Potsdam.
WE MIGHT AS WELL BE DEAD
Anna (Ioana Iacob) lives and works at an isolated and self-sufficient apartment complex with strict tenant expectations. Life in the complex is perfect until one of the tenant’s dogs mysteriously vanishes. Even worse, Anna’s daughter Iris (Pola Geiger) becomes convinced she carries an evil that causes her thoughts to become reality. These events set the stage for a slow but nevertheless maddening descent for the complex’s tenants, who become more paranoid about the outside than ever before in this timely dramatic satire. --Frederic Boyer
Achtung Berlin | Youthtopia
Director: Dennis Stormer
Achtung Berlin have worked closely together with Mobile Kino on various projects over the years. We invited the Berlin based team to select a special program to be included in the Lakeside Film Festival.
YOUTHTOPIA
"We're screwing up our entire future," Wanja and her friends say jokingly, as they count the likes on their smartphones. The colourful bunch has no intention of worrying about the future; all they are interested in is having fun and causing uproar. Free from any responsibilities, this clique of long-term youths lives in an old barn, away from the city. Society is being entirely monitored online by the so-called "algorithm": it determines when someone is considered an adult or gets a job. Everything suddenly changes the day Wanja is classified as an adult. Her new life as an architect, which comes with an apartment and car, soon opens up new privileges. A struggle between impetuous youth and a growing sense of duty begins.
The Balcony Movie
Director: Pawel Lozinski
Selected as part of the Lakeside Documentary program is a unique idea from Polish filmmaker Pawel Lozinski.
Composed from the conversations that the director holds with people passing by in the street under his Warsaw apartment, each story in 'The Balcony Movie' is unique and deals with the way we try to cope with life as individuals. All together, they create a self-portrait of contemporary human life, and the passers-by present a composite picture of today's world.
The Beta Test

Jim Cummings previously work THUNDERROAD was a short film that screened at one of the original Lakeside Film Festival weekends.
